North Harris lies 17 miles off the North-Western tip of Scotland. A dramatic Atlantic coastline and a spectacular mountain range make this a very special place. Each year more and more nature and outdoor enthusiasts make this their holiday destination of choice. The North Harris Trust manages 26,000ha of rugged landscape, on behalf of the community. It aims to build a stronger community and enhance this wonderful, wild landscape. The Trust operates a number of visitor facilities including: ·
- Huisinis Gateway – toilets, showers, CDP and information at the beach
- Huisinis Campervan Site – 5 pitches with hookups
- Ardvourlie Community Woodland – circular walk with information and woodland observatory
- North Harris Eagle Observatory – wildlife hide in prime Eagle territory
- Scalpay Bothy – information at Eilean Glas Lighthouse
In addition, it operates the North Harris Ranger Service which delivers a program of Guided Walks throughout the summer season.
