Located in what during the herring fishing boom used to be the auction mart and office building, the Fish Mart, recently refurbished to an excellent standard, houses both a café and a hostel. Open all year round, the hostel has four en suite bedrooms accommodating up to ten people. Shower and laundry facilities are also available for visitors (including sailors). The separate café serves tasty home bakes and is open for teas, coffees, baking and lunches. The café provides a business opportunity for residents, who in turn, employ local teenagers, offering training and building both practical and personal skills in the hospitality sector. The café hosts the weekly Companions group for the over-60s and provides additional public space for island gatherings or meetings.
