The Old Forge

The Old Forge

The Old Forge pub is situated on the stunning Knoydart peninsula, commonly referred to as ‘Britain’s Last Wilderness’. As the only pub in the area, the Forge acts as a vital community hub as well as being a place to relax, take in the views and enjoy a pint of locally-made beer or a wee dram.

The Old Forge came under community ownership in 2022, and now works for the benefit of the local community and all its patrons. Profits are reinvested back in to the business and community projects, and we endeavour to furthering the sustainability of our community through working with local suppliers, providing employment and contributing to Knoydart’s circular economy.

A warm welcome awaits all customers – whether you’ve hopped on the ferry from Mallaig for the day, or are one of the brave souls who treks over the Rough Bounds to reach us, we offer a traditional Highland welcome, friendly faces behind the bar and a fantastic selection of drinks.

We are currently operating on a drinks-only basis and are aiming to reopen the restaurant in 2023. Scottish and local products feature heavily behind our bar, including our very own Knoydart Brewery ale on tap, and a selection of spirits from the local area.

We host regular Traditional music sessions throughout the summer months, have moorings available for seafarers, and the log fire is always burning on misty days to make sure you have a comfortable experience. Come away in and see what we have to offer!

We are currently closed for refurbishments and expect to reopen drinks-only at the end of May 2023, with restaurant service following later in the summer.
